Free Online Course in International Development

There is an opportunity for participainting in a free online course. The deadline for applying is very short -  16 March 2012. This is the general information that we received about the course:

A UNIQUE SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY TO GAIN A UK-UNIVERSITY ACCREDITED CERTIFICATE IN PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
• Are you interested in working in the international development sector at home or abroad and want to know more?
• Are you new to the international development sector and want the opportunity to upskill?
• Have you worked in the sector for a while and are seeking the chance to critically reflect on your knowledge, skills and values related to international development?
Access International Development is an EU funded project, designed at providing continuous professional development opportunities for those who are interested in working in the international development sector. The project is being led by the University of Ulster, Northern Ireland and its partners, FIT, Dublin, Deusto University, Spain, and ECQ, Bulgaria (for further information see project website: http://www.aidproject.eu).

We are currently developing a pan-EU CPD training programme that respond to the needs of both the international development sector at large and the employability needs of those wishing to work in International Development, at home or abroad. To this end, we are offering the unique opportunity of 22 fully funded places in the UK for those wishing to work online towards a Certificate in Personal and Professional Development accredited by the University of Ulster (for more information about the Certificate in Personal and Professional Development see: http://adl.ulster.ac.uk/lll/), normally costing in the region of £700 to complete this accredited training. The other participants on the programme will be drawn from Spain and Bulgaria.

This Certificate course starts on Monday 16th April 2012 and ends in December 2012. The modules that make up the Certificate are delivered online and assessment is based on a pass/fail only basis. Content will require a commitment of 6-8 hours/week on the part of participants. No prior qualifications or expertise in the field is required.

The application process requires the applicant to provide a current CV along with a personal statement of no longer than 300 words that outlines her/his interest in participating in the Access International Development training programme. Please note that the deadline for applications is Friday 16th March 2012 at 5pm. Any applications received after this will not be considered. Successful applicants will be notified by the close of day on Monday 26th March 2012.
