An international conference, headed Women - Promoters of Development

On 7 February (Monday) 2011 at  1.00 p.m. at the The Red House Centre for Culture and Debate in Sofia was organised a national dialogue, headed "Women - Promoters of Development". The event, hosted by Gender Education, Research and Technologies Foundation, was a part of an international project named Connect! Women East/ West/ South for Development which is a joint initiative of Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and the UK. The forum was attended by representatives of One World Action (UK) and KARAT Coalition (Poland). Bulgarian partners are also The Centre for Inclusive Education and Gender Project for Bulgaria Foundation.

Bulgarian and foreign partners shared their experience and practice in the field of gender equality and women's rights in the development cooperation programmes.

Among the panellinsts were Tatyana Kmetova (CWSP), Stanimira Hadjimitova (GPF), Iva Boneva (CIE), Tanya Markova (GIP), Veronique Dion (OWA), Marta Gontarska (KARAT) etc. Special guests of the dialogue were Her Excellency Tove Skarstein, the Ambassador of Norway and His Excellency Karel van Kesteren, the Dutch Ambassador to Bulgaria.

During the event the participants enjoyed the photo exhibition "Through Their Eyes through Ours", reflecting the real life of women in developing countries from the European region and the close neighbourhood.
