Development Education

On 24.09.2015 in the evening dozens of lanterns rose over the sky of Sofia to send messages for a better future of the planet. The event, which was organized in front of the National Theater, is part of a Light the Way global campaign to promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations. Organizers of the event for Bulgaria are Global Initiative on Psychiatry Sofia; Foundation Gender Education, Research and Technology; United Nation Association and Bulgarian Platform for International Development. Installation with candles, tree with messages, a fire show and a lesson in dancing were just some of the highlights in the program. The event ended with the lighting of a hundred lanterns that were released into the night sky over Sofia.

On September 25 at the UN headquarters in New York, world leaders adopted 17 global Sustainable Development Goals which include: eradicating poverty, end of hunger, provision of quality education for all, reducing inequalities, responsible consumption and combat climate changes. The SDG are historical opportunity to create a better future for all of us.
